The Eureka! Science Show is an exciting 30-minute show bringing science to life with exciting demonstrations and audience participation.

It’s a whistle stop tour of our favourite science demonstrations covering topics such as forces, electricity, sound, chemical reactions and energy. Perfect for enquiring minds and designed to spark interest and encourage curiosity in science for all pupils.

Learning objectives:

• That sight is our dominant sense.
• That gravity is an invisible force which pulls everything towards the earth.
• Which materials are good conductors and insulators and why humans can also conduct electricity.
• The basic principle of how rockets work and that the 3 components of the fire triangle are oxygen, heat and light.
• That there is light beyond each end of the rainbow that we can’t see – infra-red and ultra-violet.
• That the amount of water in a jar will affect the pitch of the sound it makes when tapped.
• That carbon dioxide is a gas and that it is heavier than air.

Sound

• Identify how sounds are made, associating some of them with something vibrating.
• Recognise that vibrations from sounds travel through a medium to the ear.
• Find patterns between the pitch of a sound and the strength of the vibrations that produced it.

Electricity

• Recognise that a switch opens and closes a circuit.
• Recognise some common conductors and insulators and associate metals with being good conductors.

Forces

• Explain that unsupported objects fall towards the Earth because of the force of gravity between the Earth and the falling object.
